Atlanta bombing: Evil At The Games

As midnight approached on July 26, 1996 few could have predicted just how drastically Olympic history was about to change.

A series of nail-filled pipe bombs weighing close to 20kg quietly ticked down while thousands of Olympic revelers packed into Altanta's Centennial Olympic Park.

At 1:20am on July 27 the home-made bomb exploded killing two people and injuring hundreds of others as chaos descended on downtown Atlanta.

Terrorism had hit the Olympics before - but never in America. One vicious act irrevocably changed the way all Olympic events were run.
