Former England coach Terry Venables believes Manchester City will outshine Manchester United and win the Premier League title.

Venables wrote in The Sun: "The red half of Manchester may think the title's in the bag with Robin van Persie's arrival.

"But I'm backing the Blue half to retain the Premier League crown - thanks to their best 'new' signing of the summer.

"I do not mean Jack Rodwell, who arrived at Manchester City this week from Everton.

"No, I am referring to another prized asset... Carlos Tevez.

"Yes, I know the Argentinian striker has been at the club for a few seasons.

"But the way he has returned from his summer break, he is like a new signing for the Prem champions.

"In fact, he is better than a new signing because he already knows the place inside out."
