Western Union has become the new presenting sponsor of the Uefa Europa League, reports SportsPro.

The payment services company has agreed a three-year deal with Uefa marketing agency Team Marketing AG to sponsor European club soccer's second tier competition from the 2012/13 season until the 2015 final.

The agreement also includes sponsorship of the Uefa Futsal Cup in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

David Taylor, chief executive of competition organisers Uefa Events SA, said: "The Uefa Europa League has taken great strides over the last three years and gone from strength to strength to become a large-scale competition in its own right and with its own identity.

"I am pleased to welcome Western Union as a new partner to the Uefa Europa League family. We highly value the support of this international brand which will increase and promote the growth of this great competition on a global scale."

Diane Scott, the executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Western Union Ventures, added: "Western Union has an extensive network of 500,000 agent locations in 200 countries and a focus on meeting the otherwise unmet financial services needs of our customers.

"Drawing upon this global reach this is a great opportunity for us to engage our customers and agents around the world, as well as in Europe, in the excitement of the UEFA Europa League."
