West Ham United are set to close a deal for Sunderland defender George McCartney.

The London Evening Standard says a deal has now been agreed between the clubs and the 31-year-old defender is expected to join West Ham with little or no fee involved.

It will be McCartney's second spell at the club since he spent two years at Upton Park, between 2006-08 before rejoining Sunderland.
