New Zealand's Marina Erakovic has been knocked out of the ASB Classic tenns tournament in Auckland today going down to top seed Elena Dementieva in straight sets.
Dementieva, the no.4 ranked player in the world, was too strong for the Kiwi breaking Erakovic twice in both sets to win 6-2, 6-3.
Unlike her opening round win against Spain's Nuria Llagostera Vives where Erakovic had 11 aces, she could only get one past the Russian today and struggled with her first serve.
Dementieva will play fifth seed Shahar Peer in the quarterfinals after she beat Barbora Zahlavova Strycova of the Czech Republic 6-3 4-6 6-2.
Earlier Czech Nicole Vaidisova crashed out of the tournament losing to Russian Elena Vesnina in straight sets, while second seed Caroline Wozniacki advanced to the quarters beating Jill Craybas 6-4, 7-5.
