Rafael Nadal's leapt to the defence of the very people who jeered him in the Australian Open final.
Sections of the Melbourne Park crowd surprisingly booed the world number one when he left the court for treatment in his loss to Stanislas Wawrinka.
But Nadal can understand the crowd reaction as they were unsure of what was going on.
He says once they realised his back problem was bad, they were very fair.
Nadal says he will never say a bad word about the fans in Melbourne.
The incident caused a lengthy discussion between Wawrinka and the chair umpire.But Wawrinka says he had no problem with Nadal leaving the court, but he was entitled to know why.
