... and the dumbest thing about these 'people' complaining about the haka?  It's on at the start of every All Black test!  Has been for over a 100 years, and to my memory, the test against Wales in 2000-something was the only time it wasn't performed on the field -

Don't like it?  Don't watch it ... D#$%$!

Hahaha I'm pretty sure they didn't do a haka before every game. It didn't become the boring ritual until the 1980's. And they didn't go overboard until the 1990's.

Don't worry I manage to time it so I'm spared the boredom of the haka and them playing the national in two different languages.

Actually, I don't recall saying that anyone was trying to change my views ...

'defensive much'?!?  What are you?  A 12 year-old kid?

Flag that, I have 12 year-old twins and neither of them says that.

Well you have said twice; "you change our mind/views" on two different topics.

And as nobody was trying to change your mind, it is very transparent defensiveness. Obvious to everyone.

As is your immaturity. But what's even funnier is you calling anyone else immature. Just sad...

Best you check your facts, and maybe archive footage of the early All Blacks' games, you'll see they were doing that haka way back when your parents were discovering each other ...

Can't do anything about that either, sadly -

It seems that maybe it's just New Zealand you're angry at; haka; anthem in two languages ... Have I missed anything -

You'll probably find I haven't called anyone immature, I have told you to grow up, and if I remember correctly it was 'run along - and grow up'.

Don't make me hop off here and come and kick you with my one good leg ...

Yeah of course the All Blacks made the Haka famous. Did you really think I wouldn't be aware of footage from the 1900's?

I know I see some stupid people, but you seem to have issues with reading comprehension. I said they didn't do it before EVERY game.
And that's an indisputable historical fact. They only performed it at test matches ON TOUR. And even then they often didn't, especially if they lost the last game.

And if you bother to watch those said films; I'm sure even you could identify that not only are they not taking it anywhere near as seriously, but before the late 1970's they're doing an entirely different haka.
It was Buck Shelford who started getting precious over the Haka in the late 1980's.

OK you two. Settle, settle, settle. I'm on edge enough at the moment continually thinking about the ABs game on Sunday. I'm so tense, uptight, nervous, stressed, jittery and skittery that I'm already dry retching into a plastic bucket every ten minutes or so.

@ Splat on what grounds do you base your comment The Haka Is Part Of NZ Culture?? It may be part of yours but it certainly is not part of every New Zealander, unless you have proof to back up your claim I suggest you only lay claim to the haka being part of your culture,

@redzima the haka was here long before you or your ancestors. It is NZ culture whether you like to deny your culture or not . Just like liars who place their hands on the bible in court not because they are telling the truth but because it is part of court culture , it's there whether you like it or not.
The national anthem is part of our culture not your culture but NZ culture whether maori like it or not .

Haka is a statement of intent , out in the open with no doubt .
Wise opponents will use it to their own advantage and reply to the intent with action being forewarned.

Get a clue you , sorry your parents didn't teach you about the country you live in and how to appreciate things you do not understand , thankfully some of your ancestors did have enough sense to learn .

In the rugby world the haka is big entertainment

Why does the haka incite such reactions?

'The haka is past its use-by date'??  Are you the part of the - sadly growing - Culture Police?  You know, the group which decides that what it no longer likes should be resigned to history?

The haka, along with contributions from every other culture, is part of who we are as New Zealanders, not just me because I have Maori ancestry, but every New Zealander.  To deny it is to deny who you are; who your parents were; and your grandparents -

The haka will continue to be used by the All Blacks, and every other sports team which chooses to use it, until the governing body for each sport decides not to.  It will be the case long after you and me are dust ...  So best you get the remote handy, so you can skip it when it comes on tomorrow -

Go the All Blacks - [and the haka ... ... juvenile I know]

'force feed their children maori culture' ... Good grief, I understand we live in a society where freedom of speech is held in high esteem, but given that, this is the best you can come up with?!?

Force feed their children maori culture!!!

Best you use your time online in other pursuits -

@Hardleyrules by force fed do you mean introducing your children to Charles Dickens so that they might have an understanding of english society in the 1800's or do you mean
let's sing the national anthem (which by the way when written in 1882 was originally in both english and maori and had 5 verses .)

Or should we be ignorant of our neighbours so that we can not feel so bad when we ignore their rights along with our own .

Ignorance is bliss

Who would take any notice of a sad little man who writes racist diatribes behind a number of pseudonyms?
Be a man  - ie post your racist rubbish under your real name and maybe I'll show you some respect .... but probably not.

jerry i pay to see rugby to and part of the joy for me is seeing the boys representing our country showing how proud they are to be KIWIs and of there culture, to suggest that it only be done after a game if we win shows you realy have no idea what it is all about, after a game would defeat the entire purpose, also to say that it is just a bunch of nacy boys slapping there thighs, are you serious? you say you watch rugby, may i mention the scrum?grown men hold the crutch of the player in front of them, is that gay to?
to all the people that are against NZ preforming the haka , maybe you should take a step back find out more about what it represents because the only reason your so against it is because you dont understand it,
to suggest that we should keep our culture to ourselfs does this mean you believe mcdonalds should be confined to america where it originated? (after all MCDS has a worse affect on people that sitting though the shortened version of the haka does)
suggesting this would also be suggesting that BMW should be found no where but europe and kawasaki kept to the confinds of Japanese teritory.
these are things found all over the world, and although they are not cultural like the haka they are things that are well known to be associated with that particular country.

shame on you all i thought the human race had come along way, esp in rugby since the springbox refused to play NZ if they had Maori on the team it seem the haka debarcle is along the same lines as that.

do your research, learn about it then make an educated decision. its not hurting anyone, if it upset you that much look away or change the channel. if the english wish to but heads and swear at each other on the feild b4 the game instead of the locker room, i will gladly watch.

i do however diagree with the french being fined for charging the haka, if thats how they wanted to show they accepted our challenge then good on them
GO THE ALL BLACKS, KEEP DOING THE HAKA, PROUD TO BE KIWI

Well well well. some of you call the haka uncivalized and yet you run a tournament at a loss. How civalized is that? Some of you say the haka should be restricted to cultural shows. In case you forgot, rugby is part of the culture show called sports culture. As for those of you who think there is no place for the haka in the game you show how racist you really and the dumb part is, you use the name Kiwi to identify yourself. I aint no Kiwi that is the name of a bird. I am a New Zealand Maori.
