Giovanni dos Santos makes Tim Howard look like a fish

There's no better feeling for a
striker than scoring a stunning goal.
But there is one thing that top it
off.
That's making the goalkeeper look a fool doing it.
Mexico's Giovanni dos Santos not only scores a truly superb goal, in Concacaf's Gold Cup final against rivals the USA - in the process he makes US goalkeeper Tim Howard look like a fish.
Dos Santos's footwork not only took the ball away from a flapping Howard, he then had the audacity to chip the ball from almost on the edge of the box and over a defender on the line.
Simply amazing.

goalies muck up
ReplyThat type of creativity and inspiration is what is lacking in NZ national teams. Watching the U-17s play to tie the US yesterday (or better said, play to "not lose") was a miserable experience. It is a disgrace that coaches infect teenage players with the conservative, cautious, grind-it-out mentality rather than give them disciplined reign to their talent--and there are several talented players on the Young Whites. As for Howard--I agree with those who have noted that he did what he could and bought some time that should have seen dos Santos forced to pass rather than shoot.
1 ReplyI wonder if he is a drug cheat like his team mates!!
1 Replyamazing tricks, fish likes fish
ReplyKeeper was niether made to look a fool nor blameworthy. In fact, he bought his defence time enough that they should have crowded the striker out, notwithstanding his skillful play.
1 ReplyIt is real talent but don't blame the goalie. Howard did everything right and slowed the play right down. It was the numerous other defenders that are to blame - they did not do their job, and their job was not difficult - close hime down and/or shot block. So - great goal, wrong headline!
1 ReplyExcelente gol, muchachos. Mostrar los gringos a jugar al fĂștbol
ReplyAn early contender for goal of the decade.
