Carmelita Jeter Biography

Jeter was disappointed to not qualify for the Olympics in 2008. Heading into the London Games, the only possible disappointment would be if she doesn't win the gold in the 100 meters. Jeter owns the second-fastest 100 time in history at 10.64 seconds and has recorded three of the top 10 times ever recorded in the event. She won the gold in the 100 at the 2011 world championships and secured a spot for London by winning the event in 10.92 seconds at the U.S. trials. Also at last year’s world championships, she anchored the gold medal 4x100m relay team. She'll also be competing in the 200 after finishing second at the trials with a time of 22.11 seconds. She took silver in the 200 at the 2011 world championships, clocking in at 22.37 seconds.
