Kevin Sireau Biography

Though it’s unlikely Sireau will have a chance to compete for individual gold in the track discipline in London, he remains a key component of France’s three-man sprint team that won silver at the 2008 Summer Games. Sireau is one of the top sprinters in the world, but likely won’t compete on the individual front in London after losing in the sprint quarterfinals at the world championships in April. French teammate and world champion sprinter Gregory Bauge is among the favorites to win individual gold in London. Sireau and Bauge are bitter rivals, but they teamed with Michael d’Almeida to finish second behind the Australian team at the 2012 worlds. Sireau, Bauge and Arnaud Tournant made up the squad that finished second to Great Britain’s Chris Hoy, Jason Kenny and Jamie Staff four years ago in Beijing. Sireau also finished fifth in the individual sprint - two spots behind teammate Mickael Bourgain – at the 2008 Summer Games.
