Suarez, Cavani in Uruguay Olympic squad

Strikers Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani have been named in Uruguay's Olympic football squad.

Suarez's Liverpool teammate, Sebastian Coates, was also included in the final 18-man squad named on Monday.

Suarez, Cavani, who plays for Napoli, and Palermo midfielder Egidio Arevalo Rios are the three players over age 23 allowed in the team.

Uruguay is among the favourites to win a medal at the London Games.

The South American will face hosting nation Britain, Senegal and the United Arab Emirates in Group A.

It has been 84 years since Uruguay last played at an Olympics after winning two back-to-back golds at the 1924 and 1928 games.

In a sign of how seriously Uruguay is taking the tournament, the federation named national team coach Oscar Tabarez to lead the Olympic squad in London.
