Australian diver Sharleen Stratton isn't getting ahead of herself despite making a strong start to her Olympic 3m springboard campaign on Friday.
Stratton was fifth out of 30 divers as she progressed to Saturday's semi-finals in London with a consistent display.
Australia will have two divers in the next stage after Jaele Patrick held her nerve on her last dive to seal the 18th and final spot available.
Stratton is considered an outside medal chance but, despite an assured display, she was not thinking about a place on the dais yet.
"Definitely I'm aiming for a medal but (in preliminaries) all you can do is control how you perform so I'm trying to do the best I can to give me the best opportunity to get one," said Stratton, who finished with 342.70 points.
"There is room for improvement on my dives as well. I felt really comfortable but I've just got to work on the execution of my dives."
Patrick (289.65) admitted she let nerves get to her in front of a vocal crowd but scored high enough with her final dive, an inward two-a-a-half somersault, to get the job done.
"Someone's got to come 18th right? Today was a good learning experience and I'm going to take that into the rest of the competition," Patrick said.
The top 12 divers from Saturday semi-finals will progress to the finals.
China's Wu Minxia (387.95) and He Zi (363.85) led the way into the semis.
