On Sunday, May 12, one lucky Edge listener will dig their way around an Auckland beach in the hope of winning one million dollars.
The Edge’s number one Drive show-, hosted by Fletch and Vaughan, have teamed up with WooHoo NZ Tax Refunds and are on the search for 20 finalists from all over New Zealand to take part in their ‘Million Dollar Dig’.
Over the next three weeks, 12 finalist spots will be given away on The Edge, with eight final spots given out on the day of the dig. The 20 lucky finalists will take part in a preliminary dig where one person will win the one and only spot to dig for one million dollars.
"We’re excited to hopefully be the first radio station in New Zealand to give away one million dollars," says Vaughan Smith.
"We will bury 125 bags but only one will contain the one million dollars, so here’s hoping they dig up the winning one!"
The odds of winning ‘Fletch & Vaughan’s Million Dollar Dig’ are better than Lotto which has a one in over three million chance of winning and Lotto Power Ball is a one in over 30 million chance of winning.
The Edge Promotions Manager, Rob Dickey says "radio stations in Australia have run similar beach dig promotions with greater odds and have successfully created two millionaires so far, and The Edge wants to follow suit."
The Edge presented us a promotional opportunity, we couldn’t resist to showcase how NZ Tax Refunds really do provide Kiwis a true ‘whoohoo’ moment, that unexpected moment of true joy," says Cilla Hegarty
"It may be as simple as getting back in your pocket the tax you’ve overpaid to now winning a million dollars as existing or new customers will be put in the draw to win a finalist spot to dig their way to a million dollars."
