Normally a Black Cap taking a wicket in his first over in international cricket would be the talking point at the Basin Reserve, but not after a streaker invaded the pitch during the first session today.
Brent Arnel's early success was quickly forgotten after the man, who is believed to have created a Facebook group to advertise his streak, made his way across the pitch.
New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori was seen laughing at the scene as the man evaded security guards, cleared a boundary fence and made good his escape from the central Wellington ground.
The man, whose identity isn't known, had 'Nana said not 2!' written on his back and provided some light relief after Australia had dominated the early stages.
The crowd then got something else to cheer in the second session as the fall of Mike Hussey brought Michael Clarke to the crease in his first game since leaving the tour to split up with fiancee Lara Bingle.
Hussey had earlier in the week suggested it would be wrong of New Zealand fans to make fun of Clarke, but it's likely he will have plenty of comments directed at him whilst at the crease.4-6 6-2 4-6
