German luger David Moeller was forced to visit the nearest dentist in Vancouver after biting into his silver medal and breaking a front tooth.
The embarrassed German was quick to point out it was through no fault of his own, pinning blame on photographers at the Winter Olympics.
"The photographers wanted us to bite into our medals at the presentation ceremony. And a corner of my front tooth broke off," he told Bild newspaper.
"It wasn't too bad and it didn't hurt," added Moeller, who admitted it's not the first time it had happened.
"But it is annoying when you can't smile as you normally do. And because I want to have nice pictures and happy memories of my Olympic Games, I went to the dentist to get it repaired," he said.
Moeller finished second behind compatriot Felix Loch in the luge final on Monday.4-6 6-2 4-6
