Wales cries foul over Carter

Newstalk ZB - November 8, 2009, 11:07 am

The Welsh are crying foul over a tackle by first-five Daniel Carter late in the All Blacks 19-12 win in Cardiff.

Carter appeared to hit the Welsh replacement halfback Martyn Roberts high while covering back after a break by winger Shane Williams, but no penalty was issued.

Wales coach Warren Gatland is not unimpressed with the ruling.

Gatland says it was a head-high tackle.

He says if it happens at the other end it would have been a penalty and a yellow card, which is disappointing

All Blacks coach Graham Henry sees it differently.

He says it looked as if Carter hit him on the chest and it slid up, but it is hard to make a decision without seeing it a few times

The interest now is whether Daniel Carter will be cited for the tackle.

Carter kicked four penalties for the All Blacks and converted Andrew Hore's try, while all of WalesÂ’s points came from the boot of first five Stephen Jones.
