Hayden Shaw looks unlikely to play for New Zealand in tomorrow's opening match of the men's Hockey World Cup qualifiers in Invercargill.
Shaw has been battling pneumonia in the lead up to the tournament.
Captain Phil Burrows says Shaw is starting to come right. He says he is taking part in some warm-ups and light training, but looks unlikely to play in the first match of the tournament.
Shaw is expected to be available to play in the middle of next week.
New Zealand has completed preparations with a 2-nil win over Scotland.
