New Zealand will not be hosting an IAAF permit meeting this track and field season.
The decision not to proceed has been driven by the high cost of staging a meeting and the difficulty of attracting top athletes.
A new one-day competition will commence next year headed by the Diamond League and the second tier World Challenge series.
The World Athletics Final will also not be repeated.
Athletics New Zealand manager Brett Addison says there is no place on the calendar for a New Zealand meet. He says athletes no longer need to chase ranking points to reach the final, taking away one the main reasons for holding the permit meet in Auckland.
