New Zealand's Nick Willis has missed out on a medal in the men's 1500m at the London Olympics.
Willis, the silver medallist in Beijing four years ago, got away well from the inside draw and settled about fifth off a modest early pace.
He snuck up to second with a lap to go but couldn't quicken as the pace was poured on in the last 300m and ended up ninth.
Algeria's Taoufik Makloufi, who was reinstated to the field after being disqualified for not trying in the 800m, won the gold in a time of 3 minutes 34.08 seconds.
The silver medal went to Leonel Manzano from the United States and Abdalaati Iguider of Morocco won the bronze.6-4 7(10)-6

Tough to wake up on the day of the draw for a slam and not be in it! Was hoping it was a bad dream... #reality
Play on day one of the 2nd Test at Headingley has been abandoned due to ongoing rain. Forecast looking better for tomorrow. ^JP
@cartadizucchero at least I was half right
The Players ended nearly two weeks ago and it’s long past time to move on and talk about golf.
Not good news from Headingly for @BLACKCAPS I'm afraid: heavy rain means play is unlikely before lunch http://t.co/38l6Cygc5r
Tiger and Sergio I respect both of you and your golf so much plz end this y'all are so good for golf #justgetalongmyfriends
