New Zealand's Nick Willis has missed out on the medals after a disappointing run in the 1500m final this morning.
Willis, who won the silver at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, was tucked on the inside for the early part of the race behind the Kenyans.
With the pace increasing Willis was able to stay with leaders and with one lap left he was handily placed in fifth.
But when the Algerian Taoufik Makhloufi went with 300m left Willis went backwards and trailed in well behind the medals in ninth place.
Makhloufi - who was thrown out of the Olympics earlier this week but later reinstated - won the gold medal in a time of 3:34.08.6-7(7) 7-5 6-4
7(9)-6 3-6 6-7(7)
6-7(8) 7-5 6-1
2-6 6-2 3-6
6-3 4-6 3-6

NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL....all professional organizations create their rules, PGA should also create rules as professionals in our organization
@RedKitePrayer they, along with a couple of other "agencies", don't want the TRC to happen..

So proud of what you achieved. Go and enjoy what is left of your time over there WE are proud. Don't listen to the idiots out there.
ReplyGo Nick, getting to the final in an Olympics is a great effort ignore the press! I dont see to many reporters running the 1500 meters
ReplyNZ media setting NZ up for a fall again. Just like in the 1999 rugby world cup.
ReplyIt wasn't the pressure, he just didn't have the legs just like Val didn't have the distance. Val would of had to of thrown a new PB to win & that was after just the 2nd throw, that's what broke her & Nick just didn't have a legs for what was an extraordinary push by the Algerian winner.
ReplyDid his best but just not his day. Good race and still proud of him.
