Ref errors make win sweeter: Flanagan

Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan admitted Saturday night's gritty come-from-behind victory over the Warriors tasted a little bit sweeter after his side overcame a series of questionable decisions in the second half.

Flanagan appeared lost for answers when asked to describe the performance of the match officials at Toyota Stadium, before rattling off four crucial decisions which went against the home team.

Central to the Sharks' coach's concerns were decisions to allow play to continue when Warriors five-eighth James Maloney appeared to knock the ball on to start the second half, and again off a line drop-out later in the half.

Another contentious call was when a midfield Warriors chip-kick was batted infield, which Flanagan believed had gone forward, while a decision to penalise hooker John Morris for a strip was deemed a tough call by Fox Sports commentator Greg Alexander.

"It definitely (makes the victory sweet)," Flanagan said after the match.

"... If James Maloney from the kickoff is not a knock-on I'll give it away.

"And referees have got touch judges there that can give them a call. They're just blatant errors.

"The chip kick, that ball went forward. I don't know where we're going, seriously.

"I know they're doing their best and they're trying hard but there were four clangers tonight. And all went against us.

"They were four clear (errors) to me sitting 200 metres away ... I could see.

"And if they went the Warriors' way I'd be talking about them as well. It made it really tough for us to get over the line."
