Former All Blacks rugby coach John Hart is one of two new independent directors to the board of the Professional Golfers' Association of New Zealand.

President Geoff Smart today announced the appointments of Hart and Tony Nowell, who has had various business interests.

Hart currently runs his own consulting business and is a director of Sky Network Television and Bayleys Corporation.

He is also the executive director of the New Zealand Warriors rugby league club.

Nowell's business background includes spells with Zespri International Ltd, Griffin's Foods and a number of multi-national companies in Asia.

Smart said he was delighted to have secured the services of two such high calibre candidates.

"Both Tony and John bring extensive commercial and governance experience to the PGA board, as well as a passion for the game of golf," he said.
