PARIS, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Grenoble picked up their first point of the Ligue 1 season with a goalless draw at Monaco on Saturday to avoid matching Manchester United's record of the worst start in a major European league.

The bottom club kept Monaco at bay after 11 consecutive defeats. United's 1930-31 team lost their first 12 games.

Monaco, who were without Brazilian Nene, the league's top scorer, and had South Korean forward Park Chu-young replaced at halftime through injury, dominated but proved too shy in the area.

Guy Lacombe's side dropped to fourth in the standings with 22 points from 12 matches, three points behind leaders Girondins Bordeaux who travel to Lille on Sunday.

AJ Auxerre bagged their sixth successive victory to jump to third on 23 points with a 1-0 win at Le Mans courtesy of a Joao Paulo Andrade own goal early in the second half.

Kevin Gameiro and Marama Vahirua grabbed a double each as Lorient thrashed lowly Boulogne 5-0 to move up to fifth.

Paris St Germain dropped to 12th after Loic Remy netted a last-gasp goal in Nice's 1-0 win at the Parc des Princes. (Reporting by Julien Pretot; Editing by Sonia Oxley; To query or comment on this story: sportsfeedback@thomsonreuters.com)
