Axe finally had to get Lauaki

Lauaki was the biggest casualty when the All Black coaching trio confirmed their 35-strong season-ending touring team on Sunday.
His form did not warrant ongoing selection.
But in some ways it was surprising that the All Black coaches finally jettisoned him from their squad, given the amount of second chances he has received in the past.
There is no doubting that Lauaki has all the physical attributes to be an imposing figure in the international rugby arena.
He has size, power and has often showed impressive speed for a big man.
But too often, Lauaki comes across as an on-field plodder.
When the pressure comes on his handling is all too often atrocious and his decision making also leaves a lot to be desired.
They are traits which aren't new for Lauaki, but somehow he still remained in the All Black fold.
But in a change of thinking, the selectors have now said 'enough is enough' and have handed his spot to Waikato and Chiefs team-mate Liam Messam.
All Black forwards coach Steve Hansen said of Lauaki's axing: "He would be the first to admit that his form hasn't been as consistent and as high as we would like it.
"At some stage you either have to make a decision that it is time to go, and he has to go away and decide whether he really wants to be in this team."
It was a pretty clear message that the patience has run out, that Lauaki has to sort out his problems or get used to being known as an ex-All Black.
Lauaki's temperament has been questioned before, both in terms of on and off-field traits.
And by the time the kick-off to the 2009 Rebel Sport Super 14 rolls around, a pretty clear indication of just how much desire Lauaki possesses should be known.
What did you think of the All Black tour selection?
And despite his fumbles, should there still have been room for Lauaki in the 35-strong squad?
