Caption of the Week

Wow! I don't know what happened last Monday but well over 200 of you fronted up and posted a 'Caption of the Week' entry and, more impressively, the standard was much better than the previous week.

Some entries were offensive - which is fine - and some were racist - which isn't and they were deleted - but overall it's the most laughs I've had since I watched Paris Hilton trying to be a serious actress in 'Hottie Or Nottie'.

The winner for last week's contest, primarily because they didn't resort to Ford/Holden or 'my wife was driving' jokes, was dee.dub1 with "I swear I only took my eyes off the road for a second to Twitter...". Funny and topical!

Honourable mentions go to nusa-dua with his nice piece of observational humour: "They said it was a Ford, but I KNEW it was a DeLorean..." and blair.suzanne with her Talladega Nights inspired "Shortly after this photo was taken, Carl proceeded to start stripping off down to his bleached white widefronts and run around the track screaming, I'M ON FIRE... I'M ON FIRE!!!" That comment made me dig out the film again.

Anyway, on to this week's caption.

Some of the All Blacks and Silver Ferns were out in the Viaduct Harbour today as the new playing strips for their teams were unveiled. No pairing looked as unmatched as the combination of Tony Woodcock and Maria Tutaia and no-one seemed to be having as much fun as clown-extraordinaire Ali Williams and our favourite South Africa import Irene van Dyk.

So tell us, what is Ali Williams saying or what exactly is Irene laughing at?

Winners get a shout-out next week if they can beat my poor attempt at Kiwi humour: "Hey Irene, the Blues are a bit short in the pack this week. Fancy a game?"

During the current economic crisis, New Zealand’s major sporting sponsor Adidas have played their part too with the ‘Adidas shared urinal’. Caught in the act are sporting celebrities, Ali Williams and Irene van dyk. Not as comfortable with the media attention, Irene waits until the press have left the shared toilet.
