No guarantees in this world
April 08, 2009

Welcome to the real world Brett Finch.
If you haven't heard Brett Finch has left the Parramatta Eels.
He requested a release after a sit down with coach Daniel Anderson that obviously didn't play out the way he wanted.
According to reports Finch wanted a guarantee that he'd be playing first grade.
Some of the cheerleaders in the Sydney media have sided with Finch reporting he was virtually shoved out the door by Anderson.
Please, take your frilly skirt off and drop your pom poms.
This isn't the 70's anymore folks, this is business, big business.
And we're talking big money for some of these players.
If Finch expected to be told he was going to have his spot for the rest of his career he needed an ice bath to walk him up.
His performances this season have been average at best.
The Eels have a team full of potential but as we all know if you don't have a halfback who can deliver the ball to the backs your try scoring ability is severely limited.
Finch plays a different style of game.
In the Eels' clash with the Warriors at the start of the season, he was obviously struggling with the extra responsibility.
He fumbled his way around the park and delivered plenty of slow ball to the backs making them easy targets for the Warriors defence.
Poor performances in the game these days are usually dealt with by coaches in one simple step.
The player is dropped.
Now the real stars battle their way back into first grade.
They make the coach aware that they're working their backsides off and they demand, through their performances, to be reinstated.
The sooks cry foul and spit the dummy.
If you were a coach which player would you rather have in your side?
