Fitzy you hit it on the head
April 06, 2009

Sean Fitzpatrick, stand up and take a bow.
It's about time someone in New Zealand Rugby's royal family finally started calling it as it is.
As a die hard rugby league fan I have to say I can't stand watching a game of rugby.
In this respect I'm as one eyed as a Canterbury fan is at the door of a wool shed.
I can't stomach rugby, so when I hear stories from keen rugby fans and the likes of Fitzy condemning the standard of the game as well as the structure of the organisation in New Zealand I get a warm happy feeling.
If you are feeling the same, switch over from the Super 14 and watch a game of the NRL.
You'll never want to go back.
Instead of the boring and dull you'll get some razzle dazzle and plenty of hard hitting action.
But now that I've really got all the rugby union fans hot under the collar - have a read on down.
I was lucky enough to venture down to Christchurch a few weeks back.
And I was amazed at how little fanfare was being made about their beloved Crusaders.
Now I know that those who support the red and black are desperately passionate and there's no doubt I'll be called every name under the sun in the comments below, but I think there's a problem.
Maybe I wasn't looking in the right places but there weren't the overwhelming number of red and black jerseys on the streets as per usual.
And I heard from one very reliable source that game day at the stadium has become so much of a nightmare for a fan that many are choosing to stay at home and watch on the box or go to a pub and enjoy a cold beer in front of the big screen.
So is it just the standard of the footy that is putting people off?
If you fall into the pro-Fitzy camp then it would appear the answer is yes.
Why is that?
Is it that you're over watching lack-lustre football?
Or are you just sick of the game in general?
And if you're in the anti-Fitzy camp then it would appear you'll be answering no to the above.
So tell me why.
And by all means tell me if you're about to walk away from the game altogether.
I'll make sure you get a warm welcome at the next league game you watch.
