Fearless 2009 sporting predictions

It's the end of the year and time once again for some fearless sporting predictions for the year ahead.

League:

Stacey Jones will return to the Warriors' starting line up in round one looking like he's never been away and running freer than ever after a year off. He'll guide the Warriors in to the top four.

The Warriors will hit a mid-season speed hump which will result in immediate calls from the so-called experts for Ruben Wiki to lace up his boots and come back to the rescue.

The Australian Rugby League will appoint Mal Meninga as Kangaroos coach ahead of the Anzac test against the Kiwis.

The Kiwis will be installed as favourites for the match on the back of their World Cup win.

The NRL will suspend at least three Kiwis the week before the test.

Parramatta will surge out of the blocks and dominate throughout the season. Unlike every other year they'll actually continue the roll in the finals.

Cricket:

My mum used to tell me if I didn't have anything nice to say to not say anything. So I'll leave it at that for the Blacks Caps.

The Australians will be de-throned as the kings of world cricket in 09.

Ricky Ponting will continue to deflect criticism of his own performances by following up each loss with a spray about the ineptitude of his team mates leading to a number of feuds on and off the field.

Rugby:

The All Blacks will once again dominate world rugby in 09 leading to widespread excitement that they are again on track to win the World Cup.

Robbie Deans will make further in-roads with the Australians but wish he was actually back coaching the Crusaders because at least they won on the bad days. The Wallabies will however be on the right track to peak at the World Cup.

John Mitchell's journey will hit the bumps again at the Force.

The English will struggle again, while Scotland, Wales and Ireland score upset victories in a huge year for Northern Hemisphere rugby.

Netball:

The Silver Ferns will thrash Australia in 09.

The ANZ Championship on the other hand will be dominated by the Australian teams as the Kiwi sides struggle.

Motorsport:

As a result of their huge budget and the global economic crisis, Ferrari will dominate the F1 championship in 09.

The World Rally Championship will turn into a farce as more teams decide to sit out 09.

Holden will reverse the last few years and start winning a few races in the Australian V8 Supercar Championship.

Mark Skaife will make a return to the driver's seat for the Bathurst 1000 and dominate the field scoring yet another win on the Mountain.

Cycling:

Lance Armstrong will make a winning return to competitive cycling. Those who still accuse him of doping will of course find yet another thousand reasons to suggest he's a cheat.

Those are just a few thoughts from me. Let me know what you think.
