Get your motor running

As you will all have come to know by now I am a madly passionate rugby league fan and journalist but my other love is motorsport.

And when I say I love motorsport, I mean I'm a Holden fan, I despise the blue oval and I'd love nothing more than to sit on the side of Mt Panorama watching Greg Murphy or Jason Richards win the Bathurst 1000.

So you'll understand how excited I am about the announcement of Top Gear Live coming back to our blessed motorsport loving shores in 2010.

Murphy literally sparked the announcement into life at an event in Auckland on Thursday night with a stunning display of wheel spinning, rubber burning which culminated in a bit of stage-worked crash.

Here's the link to a small clip if you want to see what kind of ruckus he caused.

But anyway back to the announcement, Murph will be the 2010 festival director for Top Gear Live alongside Jeremy Clarkson.

And joining them for his first trip ever to New Zealand will be the man dubbed "Captain Slow" James May.

If you're a motoring / motorsport fan you'll know all about Top Gear Live.

For the uninitiated it's quite simply one of the best live events you can see off the race track.

And according to the schedule for 2010 it looks like there is going to be plenty more on offer for those lucky enough to get their hands on tickets.

There will be the all new Top Gear Live Theatre Show and Motor Show, as well as an entire Festival of motoring which will include the Top Gear Live Track, with time trials and car parades; Marque Park, a display of the classic, the iconic and the bizarre.

They're also going to put on a Stunt School with top stunt drivers teaching the tricks of the trade and Driver Experience where fans can get behind the wheel of some gorgeous and powerful vehicles.

Tickets are going to sell out fast for this so here's a heads up if you want to get your hands on one or more they're releasing them to the public on September 25 at Ticketek.
