Ford Ka for Bond movie
August 18, 2008

Aston Martin gets all the glory, but humble Ford has also done pretty well product-placement-wise out of the James Bond movie franchise. In Casino Royale, for example, the latest Mondeo had a brief but prominent cameo and was the first vehicle of any kind to be driven by then-new Bond actor Daniel Craig.
It all went together nicely of course, since Aston Martin was owned by Ford; it's not any more, of couse, having been sold to British firm Prodrive. Casino Royale also featured many other brands from the then-Ford portfolio, including Land Rover, Jaguar (both now owned by Indian company Tata) and Volvo.
You might think things are looking a little thin in terms of product placement for Ford in the new Bond flick Quantum of Solace. But you'd be wrong, because the Blue Oval still seems to be reaping the benefits of whatever deal it made back then with the Bond franchise owner, Eon Productions.
Yes, Bond still drives (or rather crashes) an Aston Martin DBS in Quantum of Solace. But Ford has also managed to get its humble Ka supermini into the movie.
The just-revealed new-generation Ka will make its screen debut alongside the film's female lead, Olga Kurylenko. Kurylenko plays Camille, a woman with her own personal mission and who quickly becomes an unlikely ally for Bond.
The Quantum of Solace Ka is unique with metallic gold paint and an exclusive exterior graphics and interior trim combination.
The movie Ka was created by Ford of Europe's Design team, in collaboration with Bond production designer, Dennis Gassner.
Quantum of Solace opens in New Zealand at the end of November.
