Links of the Week
October 23, 2009

From a gymnast landing on her head to a guy getting hit with a golf ball from close range, it must be time for Links of the Week.
Knock out of the week
I don't think the referee needed to give Jermain Taylor a count down in his fight against Arthur Abraham because it's pretty clear he's not getting up.
Extreme measures
Extreme marathon runners have this nagging problem of their toenails causing cuts and bleeding. The simplest solution - cut off all their toenails. Story includes photo as proof (shudder).
Goal of the year
It's a little strange that the best goal of the year could go to a coach but it's hard to go past this screamer by Nagoya Grampus manager Dragan Stojkovic. He was sent off for his effort.
Train-ing issues
A marathon in the US was turned on its head this week when the leader headed into the final stretch to find a train had blocked the tracks, turning the race into a final sprint when his competitors caught up to him.
Holy Schmitt
Remember the NFL player from last week's links who cut himself after smashing his helmet into his head? Well some creative person has come up with a great t-shirt to commemorate Owen Schmitt's actions.
How to break a TV
An infomercial host might not have a job anymore after incorrectly showing how the Wii tennis controller works, breaking a TV in the process.
Using her head
Colombian gymnast Jessica Ortiz suffers a nasty incident during a floor routine, landing on her head.
Little Jenson
A young Jenson Button is profiled back when he was making tracks as a go-karter. His father John didn't exactly have the greatest faith in his son's future though.
Golf idiots indeed
Ever wondered what it's like to have a golf ball driven into you from only a few metres away. Well stop wondering.
Lucky penalty
An oldie but a goodie. A penalty shot fires off the cross-bar, goes 10 metres high and somehow lands in the goal.

Refs have to follow rules as well as the contestants.
Whilst there is something mildly amusing about this it is all part of the rules.
On the positive side, I wish I could see the whole fight. These guys were looking in pretty good shape for a twelfth round.
