Satire has a long history of confusing people - there are whole websites dedicated to people who believe it to be true.
But the story of Mike Tyson having a sex change may take the biscuit (pun intended).
News Biscuit is like a UK version of The Onion - and doesn't hide the fact it's satire on the site.
In fact, if you look up at the top bar of your browser it says 'UK News Satire, Parody and Spoof News'.
But their story about 'The Baddest Man on the Planet' undergoing gender reassignment surgery was picked up by Zimbabwean newspaper 'The Standard' as real.
And other sites in Africa including Spy Ghana picked it up as true.
But the clues were there if they had looked. It included lines such as:
"But even at the height of my career, when pound for pound I was regarded as the best fighter in the world, I never lost touch with my feminine side and knew that one day I would grow breasts and have a vagina."
"Iron Mike – or Iron Maiden as he now likes to be called – was given the all-clear for gender reassignment surgery following a successful course in hormone replacement therapy which, in his autobiography, the boxer blamed for his 1996 defeat at the hands of Evander Holyfield. Although at the time Tyson insisted he was fit enough to carry on with the fight, referee Mitch Halpern stopped the bout in the 11th round saying Tyson looked flushed, was sweating profusely and appeared to be lactating heavily from his left breast."
But Mike Tyson's lactating left breast didn't stop commenters at the Standard website from showing their disappointment:sinini December 9, 2012 at 3:21 pm #
