Tall Blacks fail in Olympic bid

NZ Newswire - July 5, 2012, 8:56 am

The New Zealand men's basketball team has missed out on qualifying for the London Olympics, despite beating Angola in a qualifying tournament in Venezuela.

The injury-hit Tall Blacks beat the strong African team 68-64, with Tai Webster scoring 21 points, Leon Henry 15 and Robert Loe 13.

However, the points difference was not enough for them to qualify for London, after they had earlier lost heavily to Macedonia 62-84.

Angola beat Macedonia and those two teams will progress to the next round.

Twelve nations are chasing the final three places on offer for London at the tournament in Caracas.

The Tall Blacks are full of players who are slow, soft, and lazy who can't even win against a Division 2 NCAA US college team.
